About Shadowlight Designs

Cheryl Menzies-Runciman has has a BA honours degree in Drama specialising in Direction and Design and has been designing and making costumes for nearly 40 years. She comes from a line of clothing specialists, her mother being a dressmaker and milliner and her grandfather being a tailor.

In latter years she has concentrated on historical garments for the re-enactment market researching fabric and cut and developing a range of garments for the medieval period.

Cheryl's clothing ranges from the completly authentic and historically correct right through to her "Flights of Fancy" range which leans more to fantasy with a medieval feel.

The majority of Cheryl's work uses natural fabrics but where the price of these are exhorbitant she uses the nearest visually correct fabric to be found.

Shadowlight Designs offers off the peg, made to measure and completely bespoke ranges and welcomes individual commissions for one off garments.

Across all ranges only the hidden construction seams are machined , the remainder being completely hand sewn . All eyeletting is reinforced with a metal ring to make them more robust.
